Schraft

This very large stone estimated at 5000lbs was found upright leaning against the monument base and turned opposite of its original facing direction. Unknown how the stone ended up facing this way. Since the stone weight exceeded the lifting capacity of the excavator the lifting strap, which is usually attached to the bucket was moved up the arm and as the stone was inched up cribbing was added to support the stone since the machine could not hold the load. Once the stone cleared the base, the stone slid onto the base but still faced in the wrong direction. While resting on the base the straps were unhooked and twisted so when the excavator lifted the monument, it slowly spun “back to front” and was then set down facing in the correct direction. The materials and equipment for this work located at Block T Lot 97 was paid for with $350 in donations. Thank you.
