Amelia Skarka Headstone Restoration

Amy Deluca, an Architect who restores Historic Buildings in Manhattan and volunteers at WC, chose this stone as her first cleaning and restoration project in the cemetery. Amy begins the restoration process by gently scraping the stone using a plastic scraper to get any large growth off. Next a D/2 Biological Solution (A cleaner that is approved/recommended by the National Parks Service) is sprayed on and scrubbed while keeping the stone wet for a minimum of 15 minutes. In the end the stone is rinsed with water and when necessary, the cleaning process is repeated. During the cleaning process smaller brushes and picks, to get into the letters and carvings, are used. Now all done the stone shines with beauty. Great work Amy and Thank You.
