Ed Dalley and his sister Lenore Aulenbach visited family graves recently and shared stories about growing up in the neighbor hood. On Sundays after (Lutheran) church service the two would walk home taking a short cut through Woodland. As an adult Ed served 25 years on the Newark Police force from 1969 through 1994 and patrolled in the cemetery area his first 7 years of service. In addition to the other family members buried in Woodland, Ed has focused his interest on learning the circumstances surrounding the death of Leroy V. Dalley who died (October 28, 1918) in France as a private in the Army two weeks before the end of World War I and wasn’t buried in Woodland until June 1919. A great visit and tribute to the Dalley family.
